Masselport Resort to Golden Gate Highland Nat Park
We awoke today to rain and it continued with light rain all
day. Thankfully this was basically a
driving day. We did stop for lunch at
Wimpy’s but their Wi-Fi was down. Big
disappointment.
Transportation in SA is either by car or by minivan
buses. We heard the explanation today of
how the system works. When a young person graduates from 12 yrs. of school, he
may choose to get a taxi driver license and then qualifies for a government
grant to buy a Taxi. He can work hard to
pay off the grant and then he is owner of the taxi. There are no scheduled routes or boss
company. You see them all over the
country were people stand by the side of the road waiting for one to come
along. There are also a bunch hanging
around the malls etc. There are some
that just work in rural areas driving people around to work etc. It is a strange but a system that works. . The large roads into the city are toll
roads. They have been privatized so the
tolls pay for the upkeep and improvement.
We arrived safely at
Golden Gate Highlands Nat Park and their scenic drive thru the sandstone cliffs
was amazing.
